Nakalele Point and Blowhole

Nakalele Point refers to a land mass located on the eastern edge of the northern tip of an island known as Maui found in Hawaii. The word Nakalele means “the learning” in Hawaiian. This point is well known for its blowhole which has made its name thanks to the dangerous conditions that it creates when the waves crash in. this point is located just east of the Poelua Bay.

The Blowhole

The blowhole is actually what makes the Nakalele Point famous, producing geyser-like water spouts that are so powerful when waves and tides hit the rocks. The water that is spewed from this blowhole have been seen to rise to as high as a hundred feet in the air.

For those who love hiking, the site will be a very cool place to visit. You get to do a little bit of a hike while heading down to the opening through a route that is nothing close to a maintained trail. You actually don’t need to get so close to it in order for you to enjoy the spectacle, just in case the hiking gets too difficult. You can see and feel the power of the ocean in a way that you can’t imagine by just completing the hike.
