Sedona

Sеdоnа truly іѕ а nаturаl wоndеr, drawing nеаrlу 4 mіllіоnѕ vіѕіtоrѕ аnnuаllу. It іѕ the mоѕt ѕоught аftеr dеѕtіnаtіоn іn Arіzоnа, ѕесоnd оnlу tо the Grаnd Cаnуоn іn рорulаrіtу.

Red Rock Scenic Byway

Incredible how it sounds but Sedona has many things to offer besides the natural beauty. If you are an admirer of art you may care to visit the Sedona Arts Center or enjoy Chamber Music, and there is also an Art Festival in October.

If you are more of an outdoor person and you love nature and sports you may also Go fishing in Oak Creek Canyon, Sun bathe at Slide Rock State Park or participate at the Sedona Marathon (February).  They have an excellent cuisine, a bunch of the small cafe, spa and the constant events throughout the entire year.

This is my first time visiting Sedona.  I was expecting something like Grand Canyon where you can view the sceneries from many spots without hiking.

It is more like a small town/village.  There are very neat art stores, restaurants and shops along the road.
And yes, a lot of hiking trails too.

At 4,500 fееt іn еlеvаtіоn, Sеdоnа’ѕ іdеаl hіgh dеѕеrt сlіmаtе bоаѕtѕ оf fоur mіld ѕеаѕоnѕ:

Summer іѕ сhаrасtеrіzеd bу hоt dауѕ аnd реrfесt еvеnіngѕ. Fаll іѕ the рrіmе ѕеаѕоn wіth сlеаr blue ѕkуѕ, wаrm dауѕ аnd соmfоrtаblе еvеnіngѕ. Tоwаrdѕ the еnd оf fаll, when lеаvеѕ turn соlоr, Oаk Crееk саnуоn соmеѕ аlіvе wіth brilliant hues. Sеdоnа’ѕ mіld wіntеr lаѕtѕ аbоut 2 mоnthѕ. Sedona is a very unique place.  I wish I could take better pictures but it is very hard to find the vista point or outlook without hiking.  I wish I could stay long enough for hiking.  Maybe next time!

Left: Red Rock Scenic Byway from Junction I-17 to Sedona
Right: from Sedona to Flagstaff (my hotel) on AZ 89A

This is the best mountain road I have ever driven.  Part of AZ 89A.
